History: A10 Motorway in Romania

The A10 Motorway also known as the Sebes-Turda Motorway (Romanian: Autostrada A10 / Autostrada Sebes Turda) is a partially built motorway in the central part of Romania. The new motorway will connect the existing A1 and A3 between the cities of Sebes and Turda. The total planned length is 70 km an its estimated to cost 420 million euro, which is partly financed by the European Union. The motorway was divided into four segments and construction began almost simultaneously on all lots (two of them are already finished and opened to traffic).

In order to speed up construction the construction of the motorway was divided into four segments. The contracts have been awarded to different construction companies in December 2013- Lot 1: 17 km, from the highway entrance near the interchange with the A1 at Sebes to the place called Paraul Iovului. This section was awarded to a consortium of Impresa Pizzarotti & Pomponio Constructii SRL for a cost of 541,739,137 lei.
- Lot 2: 24.3 km, from Paraul Iovului to Aiud, this section was awarded to the building consortium comprised of Aktor SA & Euroconstruct Trading 98 SRL for a cost of 549,332,493 lei
- Lot 3: 12,5 km, from Aiud to the Decea Interchange, this section was awarded to the consortium lead by Tirrena Scavi SpA and Societa Italiana per Condotte d Acqua SpA for a cost of 420,511,921 lei
- Lot 4: 16,3 km from the Decea Interchange to the interchange with the A3 motorway near Turda, this section was awarded to Porr Construct SRL and Porr Bau GmbH for a cost of 470,004,894 lei
Openings timeline
- The Aiud to Turda segment (28.8 km) opened to traffic on 30 July 2018.
Current status
Both segments from Sebeș to Aiud are over 70% complete and the whole motorway is estimated to be completed in 2021Exit list
