Aviation

• 25 January 2016 - The Airbus A320 NEO enters service with Lufthansa
• 19 March 2016 - Flydubai Flight 981 operated by a Boeing 737-800 from Dubai to Rostov-on-Don suffered a fatal crash during a second landing attempt in bad weather at Rostov on Don Airport. The airplane carried 55 passengers and 7 crew, all of them perished in the accident.
• 3 August 2016 - Emirates Flight 521 operated with a Boeing 777-300 aircraft registered as A6-EMW crash landed at Dubai International Airport. According to initial reports the aircraft's landing gear collapsed upon landing.

• 22 October 2016 - The 3S Eisgratbahn a a tri-cable detachable gondola lift in Neustift Im Stubaital, Tirol, Austria is opened. It is the longest 3S gondola lift in the Alps and it is the world's first tri-cable gondola lift that has two sections featuring non-stop operation.
