Turkey, (officially the Republic of Turkey), is a country located mostly in Western Asia, with a small part of it in Southeast Europe. Turkey is bordered by Bulgaria (Northwest), Greece (West), Syria and Iraq (South), Armenia and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan (East), Georgia (Northeast). The country is also bordered by three seas: the Black Sea (North), Mediterranean Sea (South) and Aegean Sea (West). The demarcation between Europe and Asia is done by the Turkish Straits which is comprised of the Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara and the Dardanelles. Due to this position between Europe and Asia and at the control of the Turkish Straits the geostrategic importance of Turkey is significant.
