Taftanaz Air Base is located 2.7 km (1.7 miles) south of Taftanaz, Idlib Governorate and 2.9 km (1.8 miles) east of Ta'um, Idlib Governorate, Syria. The airbase belongs to the Syrian Armed Forces and its being operated by the Syrian Air Force.
Being primarily a helicopter base, Taftanaz is a home for two squadrons of Mil Mi-8 Hip helicopters.

The base currently has 48 helipads.
Current status
During January 2013 jihadist fighters from the Al-Nusra Front and Ahrar ash-Sham battalion overran Taftanaz and occupied the base.
