On 24 November 2001 Crossair Flight 3597, a Crossair Avro RJ100 operating the flight Berlin Tegel, Germany to Zurich, Switzerland crashed into a wooded area near Bassersdorf, Switzerland and exploded killing 24 of the 33 people on board, among them Melanie Thornton the lead singer of the eurodance group La Bouche.
