Lisbon Portela Airport is an international airport in the city of Lisbon, Portugal. The name of the airport comes from the neighbouring parish (freguesia) of Portela in Loures Municipality, known also as Portela de Sacavem.
The airport is the main international airport of Portugal and a major European hub. It is known as one of the largest and better equipped airports in Western Europe for maintenance, navigation and air traffic control. Lisbon Portela Airport handled more than 18 million passengers in 2014, and 88,459 tonnes of cargo in 2013.

- 24 August 2001 - Air Transat Flight 236 was an Air Transat flight operated with an Airbus A330 between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Lisbon Portela Airport. Due to a fuel leak the plane ran out of fuel and the crew had to glide the plane to the Azores where it successfully landed on a military airfield. No casualties were recorded.
